If you’ve ever looked at the Lake District hills and wondered where to go, or if you are a keen walker who just wants to get off the beaten track, then a guided walk is for you. Or perhaps you are walking in a larger group than usual and want someone to take the pressure off so that you can enjoy precious time with friends and family.

Are the guides qualified?
Of course! Local guides at KR Guided Walks are all qualified Mountain Leaders so you can concentrate on enjoying the views safe in the knowledge that route planning, weather and navigation are being kept on track by your guide.
How will I benefit?
What would the walk be like?
Your local expert guide will meet you at Manesty for a bespoke full day or half a day’s outing.
Each walk is individually planned. Examples are:
- Introductory fell walking – valley or low fell walks to help you find your way around Borrowdale; e.g. Catbells, Newlands Valley or Watendlath Fells. If you don’t do a lot of walking or are used to flattish walks and are unsure about climbing hills, a day or half day walk with an expert guide will introduce you to the area and provide lots of other ideas for the rest of your holiday.
- Explore the Borrowdale fells – a high level walk, perhaps on High Spy, Maiden Moor and Dale Head. A superb day for newcomers to the Lake District. You’ll need a good level of fitness and if you are used to walking in flatter areas you may find the ascents quite testing. However, guides will always match your pace and the views at the top make it all worth while!
- Footloose on the fells – more than just a fell walk. Practice using map and compass, even leaving the footpaths behind! This will increase your confidence, enabling you to enjoy the Lake District fully and make the most of your holiday at Manesty.
- Challenge day – a high fells day, perhaps with a bit of scrambling. The route will depend on your experience and the weather but Haystacks, Great Gable, Skiddaw and even Scafell Pike are all possibilities.
How much does it cost?
Prices start at £20 each, with a minimum of £80 per walk. Guests at Manesty have an exclusive offer at KR Guided Walks entitling them to £20 off their second walk, which is 25% off the minimum price of £80.

How do I claim my discount?
Contact KR Guided Walks directly on booking@keswickrambles.org.uk or ring 017687 71302. Tell them you are staying with us, when and in which cottage you are staying and they will verify your details with us and apply your discount.
Alternatively, mention to us when you book that you are interested in booking a guided walk and we will pass on your details to KR Guided Walks and they will get in touch with you.
Stay with us
We offer short breaks and full week holidays all year round, with usual arrivals on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays, depending on the accommodation.
