Enjoy the view, watch the stars, and listen to the owls or the breeze in the overhead branches as you relax in our outdoor, log fired, cedarwood hot tub. It will be a memorable part of your stay, all the more so on a crisp morning or a still Borrowdale night. Chemical-free, the hot tub uses UV light treated water from our own fell reservoir and is heated using wood recovered from around our property, Manesty farm, and off cuts from local businesses. The hot tub is located in woodland behind the cottages, and enjoys spectacular views overlooking Borrowdale. Setting and lighting the fire yourself is part of the unique experience, and we make sure there is wood available. Exclusive use for the day costs £25.
4th July 2020: Regrettably, our hot tub is currently closed. We are not confident we can satisfy the Government’s guidance on disinfecting shared spaces as the tub drains into a stream, limiting the disinfectants we can use. We are trying to find a solution and will update this page once we have one.
The water takes 3 – 4 hours to heat and the fire needs to be fed about every 45 minutes. We show guests what to do in the morning and are available for advice or help, but lighting and feeding the fire is all part of the fun so guests do need to plan be around Manesty and their accommodation for 3 – 4 hours before the time they expect to be able to get into the tub.
We cannot guarantee availability of the hot tub so if it is an integral part of your stay please let us know before you book so we can let you know if it will be available. Guests can book 1 day in the hot tub in advance. The hot tub is not available to anyone who is not a guest with us here at Manesty. Guests may not invite people who are not staying at Manesty to use the hot tub.
