Directions
By Car
It’s easy to find us here at Manesty:
- Leave the M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith), and follow the A66 west for 17 miles to Keswick.
- Leave the Keswick Bypass (A66) at the roundabout and follow the B5289 and signs for Borrowdale.
- After 4 miles, turn right over the bridge and through Grange. Manesty is 3/4 mile beyond Grange on the left.
Sat Nav Users
- If you are using your Sat Nav, the large area of rural postcodes means that it is likely you will be directed to the wrong place! Instead of using our postcode, please use the postcode for Grange, CA12 5UQ.
- Once you have turned right over the double humped bridge into Grange, continue for three quarters of a mile, all the way through and out of the village. Manesty is the pink coloured houses on the left hand side once you come out of the trees.
- We also have a Google pin – search on Google Maps for Manesty Holiday Cottages
Without a car
Why not leave the car at home? It is straightforward to get to Manesty and around the Lake district via public transport, especially between Easter and the beginning of November when a bus will drop you off right at the door. To encourage you, we have even penned ‘A Perfect Weekend at Manesty‘, which is packed full of things to do around Manesty without a car.
Penrith, on the West Coast main line, is well served by high speed trains.
- Direct trains from London take just over three hours.
- Direct trains from Manchester Airport take two hours.
From Penrith you can:
- Take the X4/X5 bus the 17 miles to Keswick.
- Hire a car (Practical car hire or Ullswater Road Garage or Eden Garage).
From Keswick:
- The 78 ‘Borrowdale Rambler’ bus links Keswick with Grange (3/4 mile from Manesty) all year round.
- Manesty itself is served by the 77A ‘Honister Rambler’ bus from Keswick, between April and October.
- Alternatively, the Derwentwater launch runs from Keswick to Brandlehow, just a mile from Manesty, most of the year.
